Description Plantagis is a medicine in the form of a syrup, obtained from the leaves of the ribwort plantain, traditionally used in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections with difficult expectoration in children over 6 years of age and adults. Composition Active substance: Plantaginis lanceolatae folii extractum (1:7) extractant – a mixture of water and ethanol (95:5). Excipients: ethanol 760 g/l, sucrose, sodium benzoate, bitter orange pericarp tincture, purified water. Dosage Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Children over 6 years of age: 1 teaspoon (5ml) 3-4 times a day. Adults: 1 tablespoon (10ml) 3-4 times a day. Action Ribwort plantain has anti-inflammatory properties and reduces congestion in the throat. It also has an expectorant and antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the upper respiratory tract. Indications Plantagis is indicated as an adjunct in inflammation of the upper respiratory tract with retained secretions and difficult expectoration. Contraindications The drug should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to sodium benzoate or any of the syrup ingredients and in diabetics due to the sucrose content. Side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Warnings and precautions Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicinal product. This medicine contains ethanol (less than 100 mg per dosage unit). Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, out of the reach and sight of children, in a closed container. Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation. Use of the drug in children and adolescents Plantagis should not be used in children under 6 years of age.
