Haritaki, botanically known as Terminalia chebula, is also called chebulic myrobalan and is, for example, an important ingredient in the Ayurvedic mixture Triphala. Haritaki is an evergreen tree, growing up to 20 meters tall, with oval leaves and white flowers that, after pollination, develop into small, five-winged, yellow to orange-brown drupes. It is the fruit that is used in Ayurvedic medicine. The finely and gently ground (below 40°C) powder of the dried fruit comes from fair trade and organic projects in India and Sri Lanka. Haritaki is also available as a sweetened hot drink, Haritaki hot Instant Infusion. Recommended intake Take 3 capsules three times daily, each containing 0.43 g (0.33 g net content of herbal powder).
