The vegan alternative – Omega 3 from microalgae Until now, it has been difficult for vegans and vegetarians to consume sufficient amounts of valuable marine omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, which are mainly found in fatty cold-water fish. Now there is a purely plant-based alternative: the marine microalga Schizochytrium sp. (the food source of these very fish). This microalga, as a natural source of omega-3 fatty acids, produces large amounts of DHA and smaller amounts of EPA. Studies show that many Central Europeans consume less than the recommended amount of omega-3 fatty acids through their diet. Furthermore, people who are physically active above average are advised to increase their intake of EPA and DHA. According to a statement from the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), a daily dose of 250 mg of DHA and EPA has a positive effect on heart function, while 250 mg of DHA has a positive effect on vision and brain function. An EU expert panel recommends that pregnant women ensure they consume at least 200 mg of DHA daily. At these levels, a vegan alternative is both environmentally friendly and ethically sound. The microalgae used for our Omega 3 are not harvested from the sea. They are cultivated in special bio-fermenters and are completely sustainable due to their environmental and resource conservation. The closed system prevents any contact with environmental contaminants. Once the cell walls of the algae are broken down, the oil they contain becomes accessible. The algae oil is produced in a virtually oxygen-free processing environment, thus optimally protecting it from oxidation. It is also interesting to note that, due to cultivation in a closed system with specific nutrient solutions, the microalgae do not accumulate iodine. Should iodine nevertheless be present in small amounts in the microalgae, it is removed further during the production process. Instructions for use: Take 1 capsule daily with plenty of water.
