Description Vitaminum E Medana is a medicinal product containing tocopherol (vitamin E) with antioxidant properties for use in deficiency states, metabolic disorders, and as a support in diseases associated with increased formation of free radicals. Composition The active substance is: vitamin E ( int-rac-α-Tocopherylis acetas ). 1 ml (approx. 27 drops) contains 300 mg of all-rac-α-tocopheryl acetate. 1 drop contains approximately 11 mg of all-rac-α-tocopheryl acetate. Excipients: purified peanut oil. Dosage Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. A drug for oral use. The medicine should be administered in a teaspoon of liquid. To accurately measure the recommended dose, hold the dropper bottle at a 45° angle.Adults and adolescents over 15 years of ageDaily dose preventively 3 drops a day cystic fibrosis 100-200 mg daily (as prescribed by a doctor) abetalipoproteinemia 50 - 100 mg/kg of body weight per day (as prescribed by a doctor).Use in children only with a doctors prescription! In case of other vitamin E deficiencies, the dosage is determined individually depending on its degree. The medicine should not be administered directly from the bottle into the mouth. Action Vitamin E Medana contains vitamin E, which has antioxidant properties. Vitamin E protects cells against free oxygen radicals and lipid peroxides. Indications in the treatment of deficiency states resulting from long-term, poor nutrition and metabolic disorders. Deficiencies may be associated with hereditary disorders of lipid (fat) metabolism, such as abetalipoproteinemia, malabsorption syndrome, or cystic fibrosis, as a support in diseases related to increased production of free radicals, e.g. in atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease, as an adjunct in the treatment of thrombophlebitis; in ophthalmology in the treatment of atherosclerotic and hypertensive retinopathy. Contraindications When not to use Vitaminum E Medana: if you are allergic to vitamin E, peanut oil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you have vitamin K deficiency (bleeding may occur). Side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Doses exceeding 1200 mg per day may cause symptoms such as: headache visual acuity disorders nausea, diarrhea, rash, weakness, tiredness. Warnings and precautionsVitamin E Medana contains peanut (arachis) oil. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to peanuts or soy. Patients taking oral anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives, warfarin), estrogens (e.g. in the form of oral contraception), vitamin K, should exercise caution when using vitamin E. Using vitamin E together with antioxidant substances (vitamin C, selenium, ubiquinone) may alleviate the symptoms of vitamin E deficiency. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.After first opening the bottle, the medicine should be used within 2 months. Use of other medications Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Vitamin E Medana may interact with: vitamin K, anticoagulants, estrogens, iron (a few hours should be left between preparations), orlistat. Taking the medicine with food and drink The medicine should be taken during or after a meal. Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
