Bioactive form and correct dosage Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex contains all essential B vitamins in a single capsule: vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), biotin (B7), and folic acid (B9). The B vitamins work synergistically – only in sufficient quantities can they optimally support vital processes. Some B vitamins must first be converted into their active form by the body. Folic acid and vitamin B12, for example, are methylated for this purpose. If the methylation process does not function optimally, even an adequate intake of folic acid and B12 may not achieve the desired effect. Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex therefore already contains bioactive forms: Folic acid as 5-MTHF Vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate These forms are readily available and thus support metabolism particularly efficiently.* B vitamins for your health* *The vitamins contained in Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex have been proven to support the following normal bodily functions and structures:Energy metabolism and reduction of tiredness – Vitamins B2, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, B6, B12Mental performance – Pantothenic acidMental function and nervous system – Vitamins B1, Niacin, B6, Biotin, B12Homocysteine metabolism – Choline, folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12Fat metabolism – CholineMaintenance of liver function – CholineHeart function – Vitamin B1Red blood cell formation – Vitamin B6, B12Immune system – folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12Protection of cells from oxidative stress – Vitamin B2Maintenance of skin and mucous membranes – Vitamin B2, Niacin, BiotinSkin and hair maintenance – Biotin More is not better – Vitamin B6 in a safe dosage Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex is particularly effective and carefully dosed. Just one capsule covers the daily requirement of all B vitamins – with the exception of B6. Vitamin B6 has been deliberately dosed at 50% of the daily requirement. At 0.7 mg, the dosage is slightly below the maximum recommended intake of 0.9 mg set by the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR). This is because taking excessively high doses of B6 supplements can lead to nerve problems (peripheral sensory neuropathy) (BfR, 2024). Many conventional supplements contain significantly more vitamin B6 than necessary and recommended. Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex, on the other hand, provides a deliberately moderate, yet effective dosage. When is the need for B vitamins increased? The need for B vitamins can increase during certain phases of life or under specific conditions, e.g., in the case of: Chronic stress Pregnancy and breastfeeding Intense physical activity Increased alcohol and tobacco consumption Genetic variants (e.g., MTHFR mutation) Chronic diseases Advanced age Medication intake These factors can also impair absorption. According to the National Nutrition Survey II, 79% of men and 68% of women are affected by folic acid deficiency. Methylation deficiency – widespread and often undetected Elevated homocysteine levels despite adequate B vitamin intake may indicate a methylation deficiency. This is due to a polymorphism in the gene for the MTHFR enzyme, which converts folic acid to the bioactive methylfolate. Approximately 45% of people worldwide have this polymorphism, which is why folic acid is less effectively activated. In 15% of cases, the methylation deficiency is particularly pronounced. In these cases, the gene is present in its homozygous form (Austrian Public Health Portal, 2024). Dr. Jacobs Vitamin B Complex therefore already contains bioactive methylfolate (folic acid) and methylcobalamin (B12). Choline and betaine serve as additional methyl donors . Application Take 1 capsule daily in the morning and, if needed, an additional 1 capsule in the evening with water. The desiccant contained in the capsule is not for consumption.
