Venofix A venipuncture set for short-term access Venofix A is a venipuncture set without a safety mechanism for short-term injection, infusion, transfusion, and blood collection. The cannula is made of high-quality chrome-nickel steel with a 3-facet bevel and is siliconized, enabling precise venipuncture. Color-coded wings according to DIN EN ISO 6009 with size markings provide a selection of different gauge sizes. Product features and structure The puncture cannula is kink-resistant and transparent, allowing for visual confirmation of successful venipuncture when blood enters the tubing. The tubing is 30 cm long and made of latex- and DEHP-free PVC. Large, soft wings with interlocking grooves facilitate a secure grip and fixation. The Luer-lock connector complies with DIN EN ISO 80369-7 and features a transparent locking cone. Application and handling Before use, the puncture site is disinfected according to in-house guidelines. The product is opened and removed via the top peel tab; the tubing, which is coiled in the packaging, can be smoothed by smoothing it between the thumb and forefinger. To vent, the locking cap at the end of the tubing is opened approximately a quarter turn; alternatively, during a short infusion, venting can be performed retrogradely via the connected infusion system before venipuncture. After removing the protective cap, the venipuncture is performed, holding the cannula by its folded wings. The locking cap is then closed, the cannula with its wings folded down, and the tubing secured with adhesive tape in a strain relief loop. Finally, the blood collection equipment or infusion system is connected. Instructions for removal and disposal After the procedure, hold the cannula in position, release the clamp, and remove the cannula.
