ACTIVE SUBSTANCES Praziquantel 25 mg/pc, Pyrantel 72 mg/pc. Directions It is an anthelmintic indicated for deworming dogs and cats before vaccination. It is active against infestations with the following parasites: Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxocaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Mesocestoides spp. CONTRAINDICATIONS The product is not administered to animals that are malnourished or in poor condition. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. ADVERSE REACTIONS I am not. TARGET SPECIES Dogs and cats. DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION The product is administered orally. The body weight of the animals will be correctly estimated to avoid underdosing or overdosing the drug. The recommended doses for dogs depend on the body weight of the animals and are as follows: for dogs up to 2 kg, 1/2 tablet, dogs with a body weight between 2-5 kg, 1 tablet, dogs with a body weight between 5-10 kg, 2 tablets, dogs with a body weight between 10-20 kg, 4 tablets, dogs 20-30 kg, 6 tablets, dogs 30-40 kg, 8 tablets, dogs 40-50 kg 10 tablets.The recommended doses for cats are as follows: young cats, 1/2 tablet, adult cats, 1 tablet. To ensure the correct dose is administered, the animals body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. PHARMACODYNAMIC PROPERTIES Praziquantel is an effective anthelmintic that acts on tapeworms (flatworms), destroying both adult and juvenile forms. The active substance stimulates the secretion of intestinal glands and allows the action of enzymes in intestinal juice on the parasites, causing their death. Pyrantel acts on nematodes (roundworms) through neuromuscular blocking mechanisms (depolarization), thus causing a sudden contraction, followed by paralysis of the parasites. The active substance produces paralysis of the parasites muscles and stimulates intestinal peristalsis, favoring their elimination. PHARMACOKINETICS PROPERTIES Praziquantel is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Peak serum concentrations are reached 30-120 minutes after administration in dogs, it crosses the intestinal wall and the blood-brain barrier, reaching the central nervous system. Praziquantel is metabolized mainly in the liver, being excreted in the urine, and the half-life is approximately 3 hours in dogs. Pyrantel is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After a single oral dose of 11 mg/kg pyrantel, peak plasma concentrations are 50-130 ng/ml and occur within 1-3 hours. Pyrantel is partially metabolized in the liver. Approximately 50% of an oral dose of pyrantel is excreted unchanged in the feces and 7% is excreted in the urine, also unchanged and as metabolites containing N-methyl-1,3-propanediamine. In the event of parasite resistance to certain anthelmintics, use an anthelmintic from a different pharmacological class and a different mode of action for treatment. Suspected clinical cases with anthelmintic resistance should be further investigated with the help of tests (fecal egg count test). If test results suggest strong resistance to a particular anthelmintic, an anthelmintic belonging to another pharmacological class and having a different mode of action should be used. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals In case of accidental ingestion of the product or the occurrence of any symptoms caused by its contact with the skin, seek medical advice immediately and show the product leaflet or the label. When handling the veterinary medicinal product, standard personal protective equipment should be worn – gown, gloves. People with high hypersensitivity to one of the product components should avoid contact with it. Do not administer during the first half of gestation. Do not administer during lactation. Do not administer in combination with drugs containing piperazine. In case of overdose, if signs of intoxication appear, symptomatic therapy and general measures to support the animal should be initiated.
