The Blue Fairy Book was the first in a series of collections of fairy and folk tales brought together by the prolific Scottish novelist, poet and editor, Andrew Lang, and his wife, Leonora Blanche Alleyne. Charmingly illustrated with the drawings of Henry Justice Ford, the fairy tales were selected from a variety of provenances, including the work of the Brothers Grimm and the French writer Madame dAulnoy as well as the Tales of the Arabian Nights and various other sources from across Scandinavia and Europe. Readers may recognize some stories, such as The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood and Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp, but others like The Goose-girl and The Black Bull of Norraway may be less familiar. Each of them will transport the reader to a magical world full of charismatic characters and their thrilling, escapades.
