Discover SymbioLact® protect SymbioLact® protect is a dietary supplement containing biotin and a special blend of two different strains of lactic acid bacteria. These bacteria are important components of the gut flora, a complex ecosystem in the body. This ecosystem can be disrupted by the use of certain medications such as antibiotics. Composition and mode of action The lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus (LA-5®) and Bifidobacterium lactis (BB-12®) in SymbioLact® protect are freeze-dried. Upon contact with water, they absorb it, begin to multiply, and become active. These bacteria provide a total bacterial count of at least 1 x 10¹⁰ colony-forming units (CFU) per gram. In addition to bacteria, SymbioLact® protect also contains 30 µg of biotin per stick. Biotin is an important water-soluble vitamin that plays a key role in cell metabolism and is especially needed by tissues with high activity, such as mucous membranes. Biotin requirements and gut health The intestinal lining, the largest mucous membrane in the body, renews itself completely every 2 to 3 days. A good supply of nutrients, including biotin, is essential for this process. While most biotin is ingested through food, some members of the gut flora also produce small amounts to contribute to the overall balance. The need for biotin can increase, particularly when taking certain medications. Recommended intake Empty the contents of one sachet into a glass once or twice a day. Pour on still water. Stir well and drink with a main meal. Note: Fruit juices are not suitable for making this drink. Important instructions Do not exceed the recommended daily intake of 1-2 sachets.
