Elemental zinc in picolinate form, considered the most absorbable. Useful in cases of male infertility , anorexia nervosa , and various cases of inflammation and infection , rheumatoid arthritis , acne , macular degeneration , and senile dementia . Increased needs exist in conditions such as pregnancy , lactation , surgery , injury , and alcoholism . Zinc deficiency is often found in alcoholics, vegetarians, and the elderly. High doses of zinc can negatively affect copper levels (and vice versa). Although scientific opinions on the ideal copper to zinc ratio vary, for prolonged periods of use, a ratio of 1:7.5 and 1:10 copper to zinc may be necessary.
