Softamil is a medical device in the form of an oral solution based on Macrogol 4000 with a pleasant peach flavor . One 250 ml bottle contains 125 g of macrogol 4000. The product is sugar-, lactose-, and gluten-free. When is Softamil used? Softamil is indicated for the treatment of: chronic, fecal stones (persistent constipation with stool retention in the rectum and/or colon, confirmed by medical examination), constipation with episodic or chronic colic. The preparation can be used in adults, children and infants from 6 months of age weighing more than 7 kg (as recommended by a doctor). How does Softamil work? Softamil has a laxative effect,regulating intestinal function through an osmotic mechanism . It is neither absorbed nor fermented in the intestines, does not irritate mucous membranes , and is excreted unchanged in the feces. Its affinity for water softens fecal masses, facilitating bowel movements. Its effectiveness does not diminish over time.
