Description Herbs for infusion in sachets. Composition 1 sachet contains 0.99 g - 1.21 g of senna leaf, which corresponds to 28.5 mg - 31.5 mg of anthranoid compounds expressed as sennoside B. Dosage Oral administration as an infusion: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 sachet, let steep for 10 minutes, strain, and let cool. Drink the fresh, warm infusion before bed. Indications In constipation as a laxative. Contraindications Intestinal obstruction, acute inflammation in the abdominal cavity (e.g. appendicitis), Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis. Hypersensitivity to sennosides. Undiagnosed abdominal pain. States of dehydration accompanied by loss of electrolytes. Period. Side effects Occasionally, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and water and electrolyte imbalances, particularly potassium deficiency and nausea, may occur. Prolonged use, inconsistent with the recommended dosage, may cause proteinuria, hematuria, and impaired colonic motor function. Sennosides may change the color of urine. Warnings and precautions Interactions: Long-term use of senna leaf may result in decreased blood potassium levels (hypokalemia), which in turn may unnecessarily enhance the effects of cardiac glycosides and other antiarrhythmic agents (e.g., quinidine). Furthermore, diuretics, adrenocorticoids, and licorice root extracts are known to cause excessive hypokalemia. Therefore, to avoid this risk, concomitant use of the above-mentioned medications with senna leaf is not recommended. Precautions related to use: Do not use if you experience severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or dizziness. Do not use continuously for longer than 7-10 days due to the possibility of habituation and worsening constipation. Laxation occurs approximately 8-12 hours after taking senna leaf. This medication should only be used if dietary changes and subsequent mild laxatives (e.g., bulking agents) have failed to produce the desired results. You should tell your doctor if you experience bleeding or are still unable to have a bowel movement within 2-3 days of taking a laxative. Use of other medications Please tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking or have recently taken, even those obtained without a prescription. Pregnancy and breastfeeding During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use. Use of the drug in children and adolescents Not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
