VETERINARY SCREENING TEST ScreenVet Urinary Tract Infection Rapid test for urinary tract infections in dogs and cats (urine) Description Test for the rapid detection of multiple analytes in animal urine. The test is for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of one or more of the following analytes in urine: ascorbic acid, glucose, bilirubin, ketone (acetoacetic acid), specific gravity, blood, pH, protein, urobilinogen, nitrite, and leukocytes. Urinalysis (urine) test strips are disposable. For veterinary use only. How to use The urine specimen should be collected in a clean, dry container and tested as soon as possible. Do not centrifuge. The use of urine preservatives is not recommended. If the test cannot be performed within one hour of collection, refrigerate the specimen immediately and bring it to room temperature before testing. Prolonged storage of urine that is not stored at room temperature may result in bacterial growth, which may cause changes in pH. A shift to an alkaline pH may cause false positive results in the protein test area. Bring the strip, urine sample and/or controls to room temperature (15-30°C) before testing. Remove the strip from the sealed package and use it as soon as possible. Close the package immediately after removing the required number of strips. Completely immerse the test areas of the test strip in fresh, well-mixed urine and remove the strip immediately to avoid dissolving the reagents. When removing the strip from the urine, run the edge of the strip along the edge of the urine container to remove excess liquid. Hold the strip horizontally and touch its edge to an absorbent material (e.g., a paper towel) to prevent mixing of chemicals from adjacent test areas and/or soiling of hands with urine. Compare the test areas with the corresponding color blocks on the package label according to the specified times. Hold the strip close to the color blocks and compare them carefully. Results can be read up to 2 minutes after the specified times. Results can also be read using a urine analyzer. The results are obtained by direct comparison with the color blocks printed on the packaging. Color blocks represent nominal values; actual values vary similarly to nominal values. If unexpected or questionable results occur, the following steps are recommended: ensure that the strips have been used by the expiration date printed on the package, compare the results with the confirmed positive and negative controls, and repeat the test using a new strip. If the problem persists, discontinue use of the strip immediately and contact your local distributor. warnings For in vitro diagnostic use only. Do not use after the expiry date.
