Description Rhubarb root - herbs for infusion. Composition 100% Rhei radix root Dosage Oral administration in the form of a decoction: Fill the glass included in the package with the product to the 3 ml mark, then pour 1 cup of warm water over the measured amount of rhubarb root. Boil slowly, covered, for 5 minutes. Let steep for 15 minutes, then strain. Drink 1 cup of the decoction at bedtime. Rhubarb root should not be taken for extended periods (more than 1-2 weeks) without consulting a doctor. Indications Constipation. Contraindications Intestinal obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease, colon ulceration, appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown etiology. Side effects In isolated cases, spasmodic gastrointestinal symptoms may occur. In these cases, the dose should be reduced. With prolonged use, electrolyte losses, especially potassium, proteinuria, hematuria, and pigment deposition in the intestinal mucosa may occur. This is harmless and usually resolves after discontinuation of the drug. Potassium loss can lead to cardiac dysfunction and muscle weakness, especially with concomitant use of cardiac glycosides, diuretics, and adrenocortical steroids. If any side effects occur, inform your doctor. Use of other medications Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or are planning to take. Pregnancy and breastfeeding During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use. Use of the drug in children and adolescents Not to be used in children under 12 years of age.
