When dogs suffer injuries to their lower leg joints, such as the hock joints, its usually due to trauma. In these complex joints, the ligaments are often affected in some way, whether by tearing, rupturing, or stretching. The healing period is lengthy, and the dog needs support around the joint to prevent further injury during this time. A well-fitting, water-repellent joint protector is important because the joint rests close to the ground and gets wet easily. A wet joint protector cools the joint and hinders the healing process. Rehab hock protectors are made of neoprene and are waterproof. The entire inside of the joint protector remains dry even in extremely harsh weather conditions. The hock protector is placed with the point of the hock through the opening and then stretched around the leg above and below the joint.
