Description Radirex Plus syrup is a herbal medicine with a laxative effect traditionally used for constipation in adolescents over 12 years of age and adults. Composition 100 g of the medicinal product contains 10 g of extractum fluidum (1:1) compositum ex: rhubarb root ( Rhei radice ), buckthorn bark ( Fragulae cortice ), dill fruit ( Foeniculi fructu ), cumin fruit ( Carvi fructu ). Extractant - ethanol 50% (v/v) Ethanol content up to 3.5% (m/m) Excipients: sucrose, purified water. Dosage Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Adolescents over 12 years of age: 10-15 ml measuring spoon or 2 to 3 teaspoons, i.e. from 8.5 to 12.7 mg of anthranoid compounds expressed as glucofrangulin A. Adults: 30 ml measuring spoon or 2 tablespoons, i.e. 25.4 mg of anthranoid compounds expressed as glucofrangulin A. Take orally, before bedtime, measuring with the enclosed measuring cup. Do not use for more than 1-2 weeks without medical advice. Action The drug has a laxative effect. It increases bowel movements and helps hydrate fecal masses. Indications The drug is used for constipation. Contraindications The drug should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the ingredients of the preparation and in patients with intestinal obstruction, intestinal atony, acute and chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (including ulcerative colitis, Crohns disease), appendicitis, diarrhea, dehydration and electrolyte disturbances, abdominal pain of unclear etiology. Side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Rare (affects 1 to 10 patients in 10,000): hypersensitivity reactions. Frequency not known (frequency cannot be estimated based on the available data): abdominal pain, intestinal cramps, liquid stools (especially in patients with hypersensitive colon). Long-term use of the drug may lead to water and electrolyte imbalance, proteinuria and hematuria, and pigmentation of the intestinal mucosa (pseudomelanosis coli), which usually disappears after discontinuation of the drug. During treatment, yellow or reddish-brown (depending on the pH) discoloration of urine may occur due to the presence of metabolites of the active substances. Warnings and precautions The use of the medicinal product during menstruation should be avoided due to the content of anthrax compounds that may cause uterine congestion and thus increase menstrual bleeding. The medicine contains ethanol The medicine contains sucrose - important for diabetics and patients with intolerance to some sugars. The medicine should be stored out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature not higher than 25°C. Use of other medications Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Long-term use may cause potassium loss, which may enhance the effects of digitalis glycosides and antiarrhythmic drugs. Diuretics, adrenocortical steroids, and licorice root may exacerbate potassium deficiency. Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Do not use the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use of the drug in children and adolescents Not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
