Psyllium is a soluble fiber derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovala plant, a plant grown mainly in India. Psyllium is used as a dietary supplement and is usually found in the form of husks (creeps), granules, capsules or powder. However, you can also consume psyllium fiber through fortified breakfast cereals and baked goods. Psyllium bran contains soluble and insoluble dietary fiber, mucilage and oils. They have a purifying, emollient and calming effect, also constituting a dressing of the intestinal mucosa.
