NAME PREVENDOG 1.056 G MEDICATED COLLAR FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED DOGS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS A 60 cm collar (26.40 g) contains: deltamethrin 1.056 g. EXCIPIENTS Polyvinyl chloride, calcium stearate, epoxidized soybean oil, diisooctyl adipate, titanium dioxide (E171), activated carbon, triphenyl phosphate, calcium and zinc stearates. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS Parasitic infestations sensitive to deltamethrin. Prevention of reinfestation with ticks (Ixodes ricinus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus) through an acaricidal effect for 6 months. Prevention of sandfly bites (Phlebotomus perniciosus) due to the repellent effect (anti-feeding) for 5 months. Prevention of mosquito bites (Culex pipiens) due to the repellent effect (anti-feeding) for 6 months. CONTRAINDICATIONS / ADVERSE REACTIONS: In the absence of studies, do not use in puppies under 7 weeks of age. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use in cats. Do not use in dogs with skin lesions. DOSAGE: One collar per dog. The 60 cm long collar is intended for use on small and medium-sized dogs. It fits necks up to 48 cm. Remove the collar from the packaging and remove the safety strap (detachable). Adjust the collar around the animals neck without tightening it too tightly. Two fingers should be able to fit between the collar and the dogs neck. Insert the end through the buckle and cut off any excess length exceeding 5 cm. This collar has been designed with a safety locking mechanism (anti-strangulation safety). In the unlikely event that a dog is caught in the trap, the dogs force is sufficient to widen the collar and allow rapid release. STORAGE: This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. Keep the sachet in the outer carton. After first opening, use immediately. WARNINGS: As the collar takes full effect after one week, it should be applied preferably one week before the animals are exposed to infestation. In rare cases, ticks may attach while the collar is worn. Ticks will be killed and fall off the host within 24-48 hours of infestation, without the animal having bitten, but the possibility of individual ticks attaching after treatment cannot be excluded. Therefore, the transmission of infectious diseases by ticks cannot be excluded. Under unfavourable conditions, the transmission of infectious diseases by sand flies cannot be completely excluded. The effect of the shampoo on the efficacy of the product has not been tested. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: Accidental ingestion of this product may cause adverse reactions, including neurotoxic effects. Keep the product in the original packaging. Keep the collar in the sachet until use. Do not smoke, drink or eat while handling the collar. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs. Do not allow children to play with the collar or put it in their mouth. Dispose of any collar residue or cuts immediately. Wash your hands with cold water after applying the collar. Avoid prolonged contact with the collar or the dog wearing it. This includes sharing a bed with dogs wearing the collar; this is particularly important for children. In case of accidental oral exposure or ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label to the doctor. Deltamethrin may cause hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions in susceptible persons. People with known hypersensitivity to deltamethrin should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product and the treated animal. Consult a doctor in case of hypersensitivity reactions. Other precautions: Although occasional contact with water does not reduce the effectiveness of the collar, the active ingredient is harmful to fish and other aquatic organisms. Dogs should be prevented from swimming in water for the first five days after application of the collar. Overdose: If your dog accidentally ingests the collar, contact your veterinarian. The following symptoms of poisoning may be observed: uncoordinated movements, tremors, excessive salivation, vomiting and stiffness of the hind limbs. These symptoms usually disappear within 48 hours. In case of accidental ingestion, the pet owner should contact the veterinarian and should not initiate symptomatic treatment; The veterinarian should assess the need for any symptomatic treatment. TARGET SPECIES: Small and medium-sized dogs (0-25 kg). INTERACTIONS: Do not use with other ectoparasiticides (pyrethroids or organophosphates). ADVERSE REACTIONS: In rare cases, local skin reactions (itching, erythema, hair loss) affecting the throat or skin in general have been observed, which may indicate a local or general hypersensitivity reaction. In very rare cases, altered behavior (e.g. lethargy or hyperactivity), often associated with skin irritation, has also been reported. In rare cases, gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea and hypersalivation have been observed. In very rare cases, neuromuscular problems such as ataxia and muscle tremors have been observed. Symptoms usually resolve within 48 hours of removal of the collar. If any of these symptoms occur, the collar should be removed. Treatment should be symptomatic, as there is no known specific antidote. The frequency of adverse reactions is defined using the following convention: - very common (more than 1 in 10 animals treated displaying adverse reactions) - common (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 100 animals treated) - uncommon (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 1,000 animals treated) - rare (more than 1 but less than 10 animals in 10,000 animals treated) - very rare (less than 1 animal in 10,000 animals treated, including isolated reports). PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: Laboratory studies in rats and rabbits have not shown any teratogenic effects. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy has not been established. Use during pregnancy is not recommended. Can be used during lactation
