Native to Western Asia and southern and central Europe, this biennial herbaceous plant of the mint family (Lamiaceae) is widely cultivated in temperate countries as an ornamental plant, but also to produce an essential oil used in the manufacture of liqueurs and perfumes. Sage was one of the saving plants of the Middle Ages. The Greeks, Romans and Arabs frequently used it as a tonic and in compresses against snakebites. Egyptian women used to drink its juice to increase their fertility. “Whoever has sage in the garden will not need a doctor” (Provençal proverb). Instructions for use Take 1 to 2 drops on a neutral surface, maximum 5 drops per day. Maximum recommended daily dose of oil: 5 drops (200 mg).
