Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of organic compounds consisting of many different substances. They have low water solubility and can migrate into the air. This test kit measures the 16 representative PAHs listed in the EPA. PAHs are a natural component of coal and petroleum. Their most common use is in plasticizers and products made of soft plastics of all kinds, but they are also found in parquet adhesives, which often have a characteristic brown/black color. The sample must be taken and sent to the supplier within one year of the customer receiving the sampling kit or return material; after this period, the suppliers obligation to provide the sample ceases. This period may be shorter depending on the shelf life of the components of the sampling kit if a shorter period is indicated for the respective product in the online shop at the time of ordering; this shorter period then takes precedence over the one-year period stated in the first sentence.
