Cold macerated organic burdock oil, 100 ml, Pronat Maceration is a physical process in which fruits, flowers, leaves, roots or other parts of plants are exposed for a period of time to the action of a neutral oil, most often deodorized sunflower oil. The neutral oil draws into it the volatile oils and other active principles from the plant subjected to maceration. The final product (solution) is called macerate. In the pharmacy, this solution is called cold infusion. There must be no chemical processes during maceration. The extraction process is carried out at room temperature, hence the term cold extract or cold maceration. The benefits of cold maceration are certainly found in the delicate process by which the plants active ingredients are extracted. If the extraction process is carried out at high temperature (by added heat), the process is called digestion.
