NOTE: The thermometer and the person must be at the same ambient temperature for at least 30 minutes. 1. Power On: Press and release the power button once. The backlight will illuminate, the power-on sequence will begin, and a beep will sound. If a previous temperature was measured, the screen will display the last temperature measured before moving to the “Ready” screen. 2. Ready: When the device is ready, three dashed lines will appear on the screen. 3. Position: Position the thermometer 1-5 cm (0.4-2”) away from the center of the forehead, exactly between the eyebrows. If the eyebrow area is covered with hair, sweat or dirt, clean the area beforehand to improve the accuracy of the measurement. It is important to keep the thermometer and forehead still during the measurement. Movement will influence the measured value. 4. Measure temperature: Press the temperature button to take a measurement. The device will take a reading and you will hear a beep when the reading is complete. 5. Read temperature: Read the measured temperature. 6. Power Off: Press the power button to turn off the device. Otherwise, the thermometer will automatically turn off after 20 seconds of inactivity. The word “OFF” will appear on the screen when the thermometer starts to turn off. Precautions and contraindications: • Before measuring, remove any dirt or sweat from your forehead with a dry cloth. • Avoid applying cold or hot compresses to the forehead at least 30 minutes before the measurement. • Remove blankets and pillows from the head and face area before measuring. • DO NOT measure temperature on scar tissue, open wounds, or abrasions. • ALWAYS store the thermometer in a dry and clean environment. DO NOT store in areas with sharp objects that could scratch the sensor. Dirt, debris, and scratches will affect the accuracy of temperature readings. WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS Keep out of reach of children under 12 years of age. NEVER use the thermometer for purposes other than those for which it was designed. Follow general safety precautions when using it on children. Never immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids (it is not waterproof). For cleaning and disinfection, follow the instructions in the Maintenance and Cleaning section. DO NOT store this thermometer in extreme temperatures, below -25ºC/–13°F or above 55ºC/131°F, or in conditions of excessive humidity (relative humidity above 95% non-condensing). If the thermometer is stored in a cooler or warmer location than where it will be used, allow it to acclimatize to room temperature for 30 minutes before taking a measurement. The person should be indoors and in the same room as the thermometer for 30 minutes before taking the measurement. If the person is indoors but in a room that is more than a few degrees warmer or cooler than the room the thermometer is in, this will affect the accuracy of the reading. DO NOT use the thermometer if the scanner or the thermometer itself shows any signs of damage. If it shows any signs of damage, DO NOT attempt to repair the product. DO NOT insert a sharp object into the scanner area or other open surface of the thermometer. This thermometer contains high-quality, precision parts. DO NOT drop the instrument. Protect it from impact and strong shock. DO NOT use the device if it is damaged/degraded/weakened in any way. The effects of degraded sensors and electrodes or weakened electrodes include decreased performance or other problems. An increase in temperature may indicate serious illness, especially in newborns and young children or in adults who are elderly, frail, or have a weakened immune system.
