NAME NEMEX 115.30 MG/G PASTE FOR ORAL ADMINISTRATION FOR CATS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS Pyrantel pamoate 115.30 mg/g (equivalent to 40.0 mg/g pyrantel base). EXCIPIENTS Precipitated silica, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sorbitol solution, sodium alginate, purified water. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of ascaris and hookworm infestations in kittens, pregnant and lactating cats and adult cats. CONTRAINDICATIONS / ADVERSE EFFECTS Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients. DOSAGE 57.65 mg pyrantel pamoate equal to 20 mg pyrantel base per kg body weight of the cat. Directions for use: For ease of use, the following dosage is recommended. 2 g syringe: two syringe marks per kg body weight. 3 g syringe: one syringe dose per kg body weight. It should be administered in a single dose, without starving the cat or subjecting it to a specific diet. The palatability of Nemex allows it to be distributed directly into the animals mouth or, in the case of unsociable animals, mixed with food. Prophylaxis: Prophylaxis is used to keep the cat free of roundworms. In addition, prophylactic treatment allows the cat to: be more resistant to other diseases; be more tolerant to stress; have a more alert sensorium; and have a better general appearance, in particular with a shinier coat. Prophylaxis schedule: 1. Cats (up to 12 weeks): the first treatment should be administered at 10-14 days of age. Subsequent treatments should be carried out at weekly intervals until 2-3 weeks after weaning (approximately 5-7 weeks). If the likelihood of infestation persists, it is advisable to continue with additional treatments at 2-week intervals until the age of 12 weeks. 2. Young and adult cats (after 12 weeks of age): Regular treatments are carried out every 3 months. In poor hygiene and/or environmental conditions that favor the possibility of more frequent infestation, it is recommended to repeat the treatments at more frequent intervals. 3. Female cats: Treatment is carried out 2, 4 and 6 weeks after each heat. Female cats that have given birth should be treated at the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 10th weeks after giving birth. Outside these periods and in good hygienic conditions, disinfestation treatments every three months are sufficient. Treatment: Treatment should be carried out as soon as the presence of parasites is detected and repeated after 2-3 weeks. To ensure correct dosing, the plunger must be reset to zero before dosing. Before administration, remove the cap, carefully press the plunger until the seal reaches the zero line and discard the leaked paste. STORAGE: Do not store above 25 degrees C. Shelf life after first opening the primary packaging: use immediately. WARNINGS: If dosing is difficult, for example if you cannot weigh the cat, round up the dose to be administered. The preparation, in fact, does not exert its full therapeutic efficacy below the indicated dose; on the contrary, high doses have no contraindications. Parasitic resistance to any class of anthelmintics may develop after frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic of that class. To achieve effective parasite control, treatment should be based on the results of fecal parasitological examination. The product has a wide margin of safety and can be safely administered to subjects of all ages, in any physiological state (including pregnant and lactating females) and in any state and severity of disease. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash skin that comes into contact with the product with water. Use gloves in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Overdose: The product has an excellent safety profile and any overdose is unlikely to cause adverse reactions in kittens, pregnant or lactating females or adult cats. Even when administered at doses 120 times higher than the therapeutic dose and for several days, it does not show symptoms of intolerance (vomiting, weight loss). TARGET SPECIES: Cats. INTERACTIONS: Do not use concomitantly with other cholinergics or cholinesterase inhibitors. Piperazine antagonizes the effect of pyrantel. ADVERSE REACTIONS: None known. PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING: The product is specifically indicated for use during pregnancy and breast-feeding. In clinical studies using doses higher than those recommended, no adverse reactions were observed or reported
