MTHFR Prevent Description Food supplement with calcium L-methylfolate (or L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) 400 mcg, B vitamins and Zinc designed to restore the physiological mechanism of the metabolic defect resulting from a family history of mutations or genetic polymorphisms of the Methylene-Tetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR) gene. It contains calcium L-methylfolate, vitamins B2, B6, B12 and zinc useful for making up for nutritional deficiencies or increased needs of the components it contains: 1. Calcium L-methylfolate: methyl group donor used by MTHFR for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine even in the presence of the genetic defect; 2. vitamin B2: coenzyme involved in normal energy metabolism; 3. vitamin B12: cofactor of methionine synthase in the regeneration of homocysteine into methionine; 4. vitamin B6: cofactor of the enzymes involved in the conversion of homocysteine to cysteine; 5. Zinc: an enzymatic cofactor in both conversion pathways. Calcium L-methylfolate is used by the body as such without undergoing biotransformation. It represents almost all of the folate present in the blood circulation.
