Product features: Solution for contact lens examinations of the eye. Manufactured under aseptic conditions (the solution is autoclaved and filled under sterile conditions). Contents: 1 g contains: Hypromellose 20 mg, boric acid, trometamol, benzalkonium chloride (preservative) 0.1 mg and water for injection. Characteristics: Methocel® is a highly viscous, colorless, and transparent hypromellose solution that is isotonic to tear fluid. A very pure grade of hypromellose is used in its production to ensure consistent viscosity. Indications: Contact fluid for use during examination (e.g., gonioscopy or funduscopy) or treatment of the eye (e.g., argon laser trabeculoplasty) using contact lenses. Application instructions: Before each use, the concave part of the contact lens should be thoroughly cleaned and treated with a suitable disinfectant. Apply 1-2 drops to the concave part of the contact lens and use it on the eye in the usual way. When removing the contact lens, tilt the lens to avoid any suction effect. Afterwards, the eye should be examined with a slit lamp to check for epithelial integrity. The use of contact lenses is only recommended for trained eye specialists. Limitations of use: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Side effects: Occasionally, temporary redness or swelling of the conjunctiva may occur after the use of contact lenses coated with Methocel®. Storage: Do not use after the expiry date printed on the outer packaging. Replace the cap after use. Protect from light by placing the product back in the outer carton. Store between 15-25 °C. Once opened, use within 3 months. A notice: The application of Methocel® is simplified if the bottle is stored upside down using the stand cap. Warning notices: Keep out of reach of children.
