The uniqueness of manuka honey is due to the fact that bees produce it mostly from the nectar of Leptospermum scoparium . plants. Due to this, the honey has a specific taste, described as mineral and slightly bitter, a strong smell with notable notes of heather and wet earth and, above all, it contains significant amounts of MGO, compared to honey from other regions of world and made from other plants.
