Description Occult Blood Combo (hemoglobin + transferrin) – a medical device in the form of a self-administered cassette test, enabling the diagnosis of selected gastrointestinal diseases. The test detects hemoglobin and transferrin – two protein molecules specific to blood. Dual detection helps reveal gastrointestinal bleeding, even if it is invisible to the naked eye. Antibodies present in the test fields react with hemoglobin and transferrin (if present in the tested stool). The test result appears as colored lines in the test fields. Product characteristics The test demonstrates high specificity and sensitivity. It can detect hemoglobin in concentrations ranging from 0.05 μg/ml to 2000 μg/ml, and transferrin in the range of 40 ng/ml to 400 μg/ml. Indications It is recommended to undergo the test if the patient has: stomach pain, feeling of heaviness, flatulence, heartburn, indigestion, stomach ulcer, sudden weight loss, and also if there is a family predisposition to colon cancer. The test is also recommended as a preventive measure for people over 45 years of age. How to use a medical device Wash your hands before use. Have a bowel movement and collect a stool sample. Use the applicator on the container cap to collect samples by dipping it into the stool at several points. Place the applicator back into the reagent container. Shake the container. Remove the protective cap from the container. Apply the prepared solution to the designated areas on the test cassette. After 5 minutes, read the result. This is a single-use product; do not disassemble the test cassette or touch the inside of the device. The test should be stored in a dry place, out of reach of children, at a temperature of 4-30°C. The test procedure should be strictly followed. Do not use if the pouch is torn. Do not freeze or use after the expiration date. Consult a physician if the test results are abnormal. After use, dispose of the product in accordance with applicable regulations. The COMBO HEMOGLOBIN + TRANSFERRIN OCCULT BLOOD TEST is a test designed to detect two biomarkers of gastrointestinal bleeding. It is a qualitative test and serves as an aid in the diagnosis of diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. In certain diseases of the large intestine, with or without bleeding, periodic bleeding or irregular blood distribution in the stool may be observed. In patients with congenital transferrin deficiency, the transferrin (TF) test result may be negative. The test result may be positive in healthy individuals who, as a result of taking certain medications, experience gastrointestinal irritation, bleeding, and release of bleeding biomarkers. A result indicating the presence of any biomarker should not be used as the sole criterion for making therapeutic decisions. The results should be consulted with a physician and interpreted together with other available clinical data. The test is a screening test and does not replace other diagnostic procedures such as fibroscopy, endoscopy, colonoscopy, or X-ray examinations. No special diet is required when performing the test.
