Kiltix Antiparasitic Collar Composition Each 10 g of collar contains 1.0 g of propoxur and 0.225 g of flumethrin. Description Propoxur is a carbamic acid ectoparasiticide that inhibits the cholinesterase enzyme in parasites, causing paralysis and death of fleas, ticks, and other harmful ectoparasites. However, its toxicity to mammals is low. Flumethrin is an ectoparasiticide from the synthetic pyrethroid group that has a neurotoxic effect on the nerve cell membrane of parasites. After an initial state of excitation, the parasites suffer coordination disorders, paralysis, and eventually die. Flumethrin exhibits significant acaricidal activity. The active ingredients are continuously released from the collar formulation. Insecticidal concentrations of both active ingredients are present in the dogs coat throughout the period of effectiveness. The combination of propoxur and flumethrin significantly enhances efficacy against ticks and fleas compared to each individual treatment. This is also demonstrated by a considerable extension of the effective period. The active ingredients are continuously released from the collar formulation. Indications: It is indicated for the control of ticks (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and fleas (Ctenocephalides canis/felis) in dogs. In medium and large dogs, efficacy against ticks and fleas lasts up to 7 months if the collar is worn continuously. In small dogs, efficacy against ticks and fleas lasts up to 6 months if the collar is worn continuously. Instructions for Application: 1. For external use only. 2. Remove the collar from the protective bag and peel off the plastic strips from the inside of the collar to unroll it. 3. Place the collar loosely around the dogs neck and pass the end through the buckle. 4. Owners should check the skin around the collar for the first few days to ensure it is not too tight (there should be a two-finger gap between the collar and the neck). Dosage: Small dogs (3-10 kg) should use a single collar weighing 12.5 g and approximately 35 cm long. Medium dogs (11-20 kg) should use a single collar weighing 30.2 g and approximately 48 cm long. Small dogs (over 21 kg) should use a single collar weighing 45 g and approximately 66 cm long. The collar should be worn continuously. It is effective regardless of whether the animal is moving or resting. Effectiveness against ticks and fleas begins within 24 hours of applying the collar and lasts up to 7 months in medium and large dogs, and 6 months in small dogs. The duration and level of protection depend on coat length and condition, the animals activity level, and the degree of infestation. Occasionally, tick infestation may be observed while wearing the collar, but these will usually die within 3 days without having fed. Precautions: Avoid excessive contact with the collar during application. Wash hands thoroughly after application. Do not allow children to play with the collar. Keep away from food, drink, and animal feed. Do not use after the expiration date. Keep the packaging tightly closed until ready for use. The Kiltix collar is toxic to bees and fish. It is recommended to remove the collar when bathing the animal and replace it when the coat is completely dry. Contraindications: It should not be used on dogs with skin lesions or on sick or convalescent dogs. Interactions: None have been described. As a general precaution, also for other antiparasitic agents, it is recommended not to use other insecticides on the dog when it is wearing the collar. Side effects or adverse reactions: Occasionally, slight itching may be observed in the first few days after applying the collar. Overdosage: No symptoms of overdosage are expected. Extensive controlled studies simultaneously applying two Kiltix collars to dogs of different breeds, ages, and weights showed no evidence of local or systemic intolerance related to the treatment. Available sizes: Collar for small dogs (3-10 kg) 35 cm, Collar for medium dogs (11-20 kg) 48 cm, Collar for large dogs (>21 kg) 66 cm.
