Active ingredient: Retinyl palmitate What is Hylo Night? Hylo Night is a sterile, vitamin A-containing eye ointment for use on the eye. Composition: 1 g of Hylo Night contains 250 IU of retinyl palmitate (vitamin A), liquid paraffin, liquid paraffin, lanolin, and white petrolatum. One tube contains 5 g. What is Hylo Night used for? Hylo Night improves the tear film and protects the surface of the eye. Hylo Night is a particularly soft and smooth eye ointment that spreads very easily across the surface of the eye. The vitamin A it contains is a natural component of the tear film, which supports the ointments good tolerability and ensures that it mixes well with existing tears. This relieves the sensation of burning, dry, or tired eyes. The eyelids glide smoothly over the cornea and conjunctiva. When should you use Hylo Night? Under the influence of air conditioning, for example in cars or airplanes, wind, cold, strong sunlight, poor air quality, or cigarette smoke, burning or itchy eyes with a feeling of dryness or a foreign body sensation are common. These symptoms can also occur due to concentrated vision, such as during prolonged screen work, television viewing, or nighttime driving. Wearing contact lenses further increases the risk of these discomforts. Hylo Night alleviates these symptoms and forms a pleasant, long-lasting protective film on the eyes. The ointments rich consistency may slightly impair vision. Therefore, Hylo Night should primarily be applied before bedtime. Any discomfort upon first opening your eyes in the morning can be prevented with Hylo Night. How do you use Hylo Night? Eye ointments should always be applied in such a way that contact between the tube tip and the eye or facial skin is avoided. Only use Hylo Night if the carton seal was intact before first use. Unscrew the cap of the tube. Tilt your head back slightly and gently pull down your lower eyelid with the finger of one hand. Hold the tube upright over your eye with your other hand. Apply gentle pressure to the tube to squeeze a small amount of ointment into the conjunctival sac. Close your eyelids slowly. After use, carefully close the tube again. What other instructions should be observed regarding the application? If you use Hylo Night during the day, you may experience temporary blurred vision due to its rich, oily consistency. You should not drive, actively participate in traffic, operate machinery, or perform tasks that require a secure footing. Hylo Night should not be used concurrently with other eye medications. In such cases, apply Hylo Night approximately 30 minutes after applying the eye medication. Dispense the eye ointment by gently squeezing the tube without kinking or rolling it. Based on current knowledge, Hylo Night can also be used in children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. The contents of one tube of Hylo Night should always be used to treat the same person. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions of the eyes (e.g., redness, burning, itching, watering) have been reported, which subsided immediately after discontinuing Hylo Night. How often and for how long should Hylo Night be used? The frequency of use depends on your individual symptoms and lifestyle. Hylo Night can complement the use of lubricating eye drops and is then applied once daily before bedtime. For pronounced dry eyes, Hylo Night is usually applied three times a day. If you feel you need to use Hylo Night more often, consult an ophthalmologist. There is no limit to the duration of use. When should you not use Hylo Night? Hylo Night should not be used if there is a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. Hylo Night should not be administered while wearing contact lenses. Hylo Night should not be used immediately after eye surgery or in cases of acute eye injuries, as no clinical studies are available for these situations. What storage instructions should be followed for Hylo Night? Do not store above 25°C. Hylo Night can be used for 6 months after opening. Do not use Hylo Night after the expiry date.
