Hydrocoll ® Sterile Hydrocolloid Dressing is an absorbent, self-adhesive dressing for wounds with mild to moderate exudate. It is useful for chronic wounds, including leg ulcers and bedsores, as well as second-degree burns. What are the properties of Hydrocoll 5 cm x 5 cm hydrocolloid dressing? Hydrocoll ® Hartmann self-adhesive dressing consists of a colloidal layer covered with polyurethane film. It absorbs secretions from the wound, and once absorbed, the hydrocolloid layer turns into a gel, which creates a moist environment that facilitates wound healing. In turn, the polyurethane film prevents microorganisms from entering the wound. The film is hydrophobic, permeable to vapors and gases. Due to the fact that the gel is produced after applying the dressing, it does not stick to the wound and changing it does not disturb the healing process. The newly produced tissue is not damaged when the dressing is replaced with a new one. In addition, the thin and flexible material used in the Hydrocoll ® dressing easily adapts to the shape of the body.
