Fypryst Spot On Indications: treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) and tick (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp.) infestations in dogs and cats. treatment and control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in dogs. prevention and treatment of infestations with mange lice Trichodectes canis in dogs. prevention and treatment of infestations with hematophagous lice Felicola subrostratus in cats. Monthly treatment is recommended if there is a high risk of repeated flea infestations, if dogs are allergic to flea bites and in case of necessary tick infestation control or when frequent bathing with hypoallergenic or softening shampoos is done. In areas where there is no increased risk of flea and tick infestations, Fypryst spot-on solution can be administered every two or three months. Composition: Fypryst Dog S (2-10 kg) - 1 Pipette (0.67 ml) containing 67 mg fipronil; Fypryst Dog M (10-20 kg) - 1 Pipette (1.34 ml) containing 134 mg fipronil; Fypryst Dog L (20-40 kg) - 1 Pipette (2.68 ml) containing 268 mg fipronil; Fypryst Dog XL (40-60 kg) - 1 Pipette (4.02 ml) containing 402 mg fipronil; Fypryst Spot On Cat - 1 Pipette (0.5 ml) containing 50 mg fipronil; Method of administration: Remove one pipette from the triple pack. Hold the pipette in a vertical position with the tip pointing up and unscrew the pipette cap. With the other end of the stopper thus removed, pierce the pipette seal. Remove the animals hair from the midline between the shoulders to make the skin visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and press the tube several times to empty it directly onto the skin.Dogs: The product is effective against flea infestations for 2 months and against ticks for a maximum of 4 weeks, depending on the degree of infestation in the environment. Fleas are eradicated within 24 hours of infestation. Cats: One dose will provide protection against flea infestations for 5 weeks. The product is effective against ticks for 2 weeks. Due to the lack of safety testing for dogs and cats, the minimum interval between two successive applications will be 4 weeks. Recommendations for correct administration: Avoid contact of the product with the eyes of animals. It is important to apply the product in a protected area where the animal cannot lick it and to avoid animals licking each other. It is possible that not all ticks will be eliminated. Thus, it is impossible to completely rule out infection with tick-borne diseases under adverse conditions. Ticks will die on the host between 24 and 48 hours after infestation without feeding on the animals blood. Fleas on domestic animals frequently invade their bedding, where animals sleep and rest, places that should be regularly treated with appropriate insecticides and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, in case of massive infestations or when applying prevention measures. The product Fypryst spot-on solution can be applied to breeding and pregnant females, as well as lactating females. Dogs: Ticks on animals should be removed before using the product to reduce the risk of transmissible diseases. Data on the efficacy of the product after bathing animals are insufficient, therefore bathing is not recommended for 2 days after application of the product and more than one bathing per week is not recommended. Emollient shampoos can be used before treatment but, if used weekly after application of the product, reduce the duration of flea protection to 5 weeks. Weekly bathing with a 2% chlorhexidine shampoo does not affect the effectiveness of the product against fleas, as shown in studies conducted over a 6-week period. After application of the product, do not allow dogs to swim in running water for 2 days after administration of the product. Cats: There is insufficient data to support the efficacy of the product after bathing/shampooing in cats. However, based on information on the efficacy of the product in dogs shampooed two days after application of the product, bathing cats is not recommended for two days after application of the product. Special precautions for storage Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original packaging in order to protect from light. Therefore, it is not recommended to apply the treatment during the day but in the evening before going to bed. Do not smoke, drink or eat while applying the product.Contraindications: Due to insufficient data on the use of the product in puppies less than 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 kg or in kittens less than 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 1 kg, do not administer the product to them. Do not administer the product to sick animals (systemic diseases, fever) or to those in convalescence. Do not administer the product to rabbits due to the risk of serious adverse reactions or even death. Do not give cats products intended for dogs, as overdose may occur.Adverse reactions: If animals lick themselves, short-term hypersalivation may occur, mainly due to the excipients. Among the extremely rare adverse reactions, transient skin reactions at the application site (dogs: skin discoloration and local hair loss, itching and erythema; cats: skin scaling and local hair loss, itching and redness) and general pruritus with alopecia may be observed. In particular, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervousness), hypersalivation or vomiting were observed. Dyspnea may occur in dogs. Avoid overdose. If you notice any serious reactions or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.Pharmacotherapeutic group: Fipronil is an insecticide/acaricide from the phenylpyrazole group. Fypryst spot-on solution contains the active ingredient fipronil, which possesses a unique mechanism of action against fleas and ticks. The Fypryst spot-on solution accumulates in the lipid component of the skin and hair follicles and is continuously eliminated on the skin and hair, ensuring persistent activity. After applying the Fypryst spot-on solution, fipronil spreads through the skin and hair of the animals from the application site to peripheral areas (lumbar, groin area). Dogs: After topical application of Fypryst spot-on solution for dogs, fipronil is moderately absorbed through the skin (15%). Variable plasma concentrations of fipronil have been observed in dogs. In dogs, the concentration of fipronil in hair decreases over time to 3–4 µg/g within 56 days of application. Cats: The total amount of fipronil absorbed through the skin after topical application of Fypryst spot-on solution is negligible. Fipronil is not absorbed and thus not metabolized in the body. The concentration of fipronil in the animals hair decreases over time, reaching a concentration of 1 µg/g 2 months after administration.
