NAME: FRONTLINE SPOT ON CATS: ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Fipronil 10 g/100 ml. EXCIPIENTS: Ethanol, polyvidone, polysorbate 80, butylhydroxyanisole, butylhydroxytoluene, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether. THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS: Treatment and prevention of tick (Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp), flea (Ctenocephalides spp), and lice infestations in adult cats and kittens. Fipronil rapidly exerts its lethal action on ticks, preventing the development of the parasite and the possible transmission of infections carried by the tick. It is active against the main tick species present in Italy, including Ixodes ricinus, responsible for the transmission of Lyme disease to dogs, cats, and humans. Fipronil acts on fleas by rapidly killing adult fleas, thus preventing egg laying and therefore new infestations. Thanks to its lethal effect on adult fleas, fipronil effectively contributes to the control and resolution of Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD), which, in cats, is caused by the sensitizing action of antigens contained in the saliva of these parasites. Furthermore, with a single treatment, fipronil rapidly and permanently controls and resolves lice infestations, particularly those caused by Felicola subrostratus, the cat chewing louse. CONTRAINDICATIONS / SIDE EFFECTS: In the absence of data, do not use the product on kittens under 8 weeks of age and/or weighing less than 1 kg. Do not use on sick (systemic diseases, fever, etc.) or convalescent animals. Do not use on rabbits, as potentially fatal adverse reactions may occur. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. DOSAGE: The product is presented in 0.5 ml single-dose pipettes; administer one 0.5 ml pipette per cat. Break the pre-cut end of the pipette. Apply the product to the skin, preferably in two spots: at the base of the neck and between the shoulders, areas where the cat cannot lick itself, avoiding removal of the product. The contents of the pipette should be applied directly to the skin and not to the fur: press on the walls of the pipette until completely empty. A single application of the product protects the animal from new infestations by ticks, fleas and lice, in particular from ticks: up to 1 month after treatment and from fleas up to 5 weeks after treatment. For proper ectoparasitic prevention, it is advisable to carry out monthly treatments during the most seasonal periods. In the absence of data on safety, the minimum treatment interval must be 4 weeks. STORAGE: Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding +30 degrees C. WARNINGS: It is important that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick itself and be careful to ensure that animals do not lick each other after treatment. Avoid contact with the eyes of animals. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water. Do not apply the product to wounds or broken skin. In cats, there is no information demonstrating how immersion in water or bathing can affect the products activity. However, based on data obtained from dogs bathed starting 2 days after product application, it is recommended to avoid bathing for 2 days following application. If the cat was treated before exposure to ticks, they will be eliminated within the first 24-48 hours after the attack, or before the cat finishes eating, reducing but not eliminating the risk of disease transmission. Once dead, the ticks will fall off the animal; any remaining ticks can be easily removed by gently pulling them. Fleas on animals often infest the animals bedding, blankets, and living areas, particularly carpets, curtains, and soft furnishings. In the case of massive infestations and at the beginning of antiparasitic treatment, these can be treated with a specific insecticide and regularly vacuumed. For optimal control of flea infestations, it is recommended to treat all household animals. Special precautions for those administering the product to animals: the product may cause irritation to mucous membranes and eyes. It is therefore advisable to avoid contact with the mouth and eyes. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If eye irritation persists, consult a doctor and show the label. Avoid contact with animals or people with known sensitivity to insecticides or alcohol. Avoid contact with the contents of the product with your hands. If this happens, wash your hands with soap and water. Wash your hands after use. Do not touch animals or allow children to play with treated animals until the application site is dry. It is therefore advisable not to treat animals during the day, but rather to treat them in the evening. If recently treated, do not allow them to sleep with their owners, especially children. Do not smoke, drink, or eat during application. Overdose: In safety studies, no adverse reactions were observed in cats and kittens aged 8 weeks and older and weighing approximately 1 kg, treated once a month at doses five times the recommended dose for six consecutive months. The risk of adverse reactions may, however, increase in the event of overdose. Itching may occur following treatment. Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions, transient skin reactions at the application site (scaling, local alopecia, itching, erythema) and widespread itching or alopecia after application have been described. Exceptionally, hypersalivation, reversible neurological symptoms (hyperesthesia, depression, nervous symptoms), or vomiting have been observed.
