At a constant outside temperature of 37°C, the insulin in the FRÍO remains between 18°C and 26°C for up to 45 hours. If the outside temperature is around 30°C, the internal temperature of the FRÍO is approximately 20°C. This ensures your insulin remains well protected, even in warmer conditions. Application and activation Before first use, the crystals are evenly distributed in the grooves of the inner pocket, and the inner pocket is then completely immersed in water for a few minutes, depending on the FRÍO model. The crystals then transform into a gel that should be pliable and not too rigid. After immersion, remove the inner pocket from the water and let it stand for about 10 minutes so that the gel continues to absorb moisture and swells slightly. Once the inner pocket feels semi-dry, place the insulin from the refrigerator into the inner pocket and then slide it into the outer pocket – the FRÍO is then ready for use. Instructions for everyday use The recommended immersion times vary depending on the FRÍO model, e.g., approximately 8–10 minutes for double, single, pump, and certain Viva models, or 14–18 minutes for larger versions. With continuous use, immersion times often decrease to approximately 2–4 minutes once the gel crystallizes and becomes perceptible in the channels. Only immerse the inner pouch in water until sufficient gel has reformed—a small amount of gel is all that is needed for proper operation.
