FIPREX SPRAY 5 mg/ml, cutaneous spray, solution for dogs and cats STATEMENT OF THE ACTIVE SUBSTANCE AND OTHER INGREDIENTS Active ingredient: Fipronil 5 mg/ml INDICATION (I) In the treatment and prevention of flea (Ctenocephalides spp.) and tick (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp.) infestations in dogs and cats. In the treatment and prevention of infestations with blood-sucking lice in dogs (Trichodectes canis) and cats (Fenicola subrostratus). The product is effective against flea reinfestation for approximately 8 weeks and against tick reinfestation for up to 4 weeks. CONTRAINDICATIONS Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Do not use in puppies less than 10 weeks of age and kittens less than 12 weeks of age and/or weighing less than 2 kg body weight. Do not use in sick animals (systemic diseases, fever, etc.) or convalescent animals. Do not use on rabbits as adverse reactions and even death may occur. ADVERSE REACTIONS If the animal licks the application site, excessive salivation may be observed, in rare cases vomiting, neurological symptoms (hypersensitivity or lethargy), local hair loss, irritation, itching or oily appearance of the hair have been reported. Adverse reactions usually disappear after 24 hours. If you notice any serious reactions or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian. TARGET SPECIES Dogs and cats. DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE(S) AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION Route of administration: by spraying. Method of administration: Set the spray pump nozzle to the ON position. Spray the animal all over the body by applying from a distance of approximately 10-20 cm. Apply in the opposite direction of hair growth. Make sure all of the animals fur is wet. The fur will become matted, especially on long-haired animals, as the product needs to penetrate all the way to the skin. Allow to dry naturally. Do not towel dry. After application, turn the spray cap to the OFF position. Dosage: The product is applied to the skin at a dose of 1.5-3 ml per kg body weight (1-2 sprays/kg body weight from the 250 ml bottle and 3-6 sprays/kg body weight from the 100 ml bottle), equivalent to 7.5-15 mg fipronil per kg body weight. The product contains a coating agent. So, when sprayed, a film is formed that makes the fur shiny. RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION For best results, the minimum interval between treatments is 4 weeks. WAITING TIME Thats not the case. SPECIAL STORAGE PRECAUTIONS Keep out of sight and reach of children. Store below 25°C. Protect from direct sunlight. Do not use after the expiry date (EXP) stated on the label. This product is highly flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition. SPECIAL WARNINGS Special warnings for each target species Do not allow animals to lick the application site for several hours after treatment. Do not apply to animals with skin lesions or wounds. Ticks may occasionally attach. For this reason, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely ruled out if conditions are unfavorable. It is recommended to apply the treatment to all cats and dogs in the household. Dogs should not be allowed to swim in watercourses for 2 days before and after application. Frequent bathing or shampooing of the animal before treatment is not recommended, as the effectiveness of the product in these cases has not been tested. Dog and cat fleas also infest bedding or places where animals sleep or rest (carpet, furniture). These places should be regularly treated with appropriate insecticides and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Special precautions for use in animals It is important to ensure that the product is applied to an area where the animal cannot lick it. Do not allow recently treated animals to lick each other after treatment. Avoid contact of the product with the animals eyes. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals Apply the product with protective rubber gloves. Avoid accidental contact of the contents with hands. If this happens, wash hands with soap and water. Wash hands after use. Accidental contact of the product with the mouth and eyes should be avoided. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water. If eye irritation persists, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or label to the doctor. In case of accidental ingestion of the product, seek medical advice immediately. Do not smoke, consume liquids or food while applying the product. People with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or to the excipients should avoid contact with this veterinary medicinal product. Spray animals outdoors or in a well-ventilated room. Treated animals should not be handled until the application site is completely dry, and children should not be allowed to play with treated animals until the application site is completely dry. It is therefore recommended that animals should not be treated during the day, they should be treated in the early evening and they should not be allowed to sleep with their owners, especially children. Use during pregnancy, lactation Studies in laboratory animals have not produced any evidence of teratogenic or embryotoxic effects. No studies have been conducted in pregnant or lactating bitches using this veterinary medicinal product. Therefore, its use during pregnancy and lactation in bitches should only be carried out after a benefit-risk assessment by the veterinarian. Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), if necessary The risk of side effects (see section 6) may be higher in case of overdose. Overdose may cause muscle contractions and convulsions. In a few cases, agitation, drowsiness and hypersensitivity to noise and light have occurred. Temporary dizziness, excessive salivation and vomiting have also been observed. Temporary redness or skin irritation may occur at the site of application of the product. All symptoms usually disappear within 24 hours. Symptomatic treatment can be used to reduce their intensity. Following the manufacturers instructions and warnings will minimize the possibility of adverse reactions. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DISPOSAL OF UNUSED PRODUCT OR WASTE MATERIALS, IF ANY Medicines should not be thrown away in wastewater or household waste. Ask your veterinarian for information on how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures help protect the environment. Any unused product or waste material derived from the use of such a product should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements. Do not contaminate lakes, rivers or sewage systems with the product or empty bottle. Dogs should not be allowed to swim in watercourses for 2 days after application. Fipronil may adversely affect aquatic organisms. Fipronil is toxic to bees and aquatic organisms. It may have a long-term impact on the environment - Any contamination of lakes, rivers, canals, etc. should be avoided. 15.
