Sterile foam wound dressing with silicone strips for highly exuding wounds DracoFoam easyfix is a sterile, hydrophilic polyurethane foam dressing with gently adhesive silicone strips for covering acute and chronic wounds with high exudate levels. The flexible foam absorbs and retains excess wound exudate while helping to maintain a moist wound environment. The silicone strips prevent the dressing from slipping, acting like a third hand and thus facilitating fixation with additional adhesive materials. Excess fluid is transported to the polyurethane membrane, where it can evaporate, while the polyurethane film prevents exudate from escaping and forms a barrier against external pathogens. DracoFoam easyfix can be used by both medical professionals and laypersons in home, outpatient, and inpatient settings. Areas of application DracoFoam easyfix is suitable for wounds with high exudate levels, for example, superficial and deep acute and chronic wounds such as leg ulcers (venous, arterial, mixed), pressure ulcers, or diabetic foot syndrome. The dressing can also be used on split-thickness skin graft donor sites, postoperative wounds, and second-degree burns. Application and dressing change Before application, the wound must be cleaned and the surrounding skin thoroughly dried. Remove DracoFoam easyfix from its sterile individual packaging and place the unprinted foam side onto the wound; the silicone strips must not be in direct contact with the wound. The dressing is then secured with suitable fixation material, such as gauze or elastic bandages, ensuring that the dressing adequately covers the wound edges. The dressing can be cut to size with sterile scissors and can also be used as part of compression therapy. Deeper wounds should be packed beforehand, if necessary, according to local treatment standards and/or current guidelines. Depending on the wound condition and amount of exudate, DracoFoam easyfix can remain on the wound for up to 7 days; the printed exudate grid facilitates the assessment of the exudate volume. The dressing must be changed at the latest when the exudate reaches the edge of the dressing. Important information and contraindications DracoFoam easyfix should not be used on excessively dry wounds and is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to polyurethane or silicone (adhesive). Furthermore, the product is not suitable for the treatment of third-degree burns. The dressing should not be used as a tamponade. Simultaneous use with oxidizing solutions, such as hypochlorite or hydrogen peroxide, may impair product performance and disrupt wound healing. Safety and further recommendations If the wound condition stagnates or worsens, a doctor should be consulted. In critically colonized or infected wounds, DracoFoam easyfix may be used at the doctors discretion, provided that appropriate treatment of the infection is ensured; in this case, it may be necessary to shorten the wearing time and have the wound checked regularly by a doctor. Successful wound treatment requires the elimination of all factors that may inhibit wound healing. The product must not be used if the sterile packaging is damaged or has been unintentionally opened before use. DracoFoam easyfix is intended for single use only; reuse or reprocessing may reduce its effectiveness, disrupt wound healing, and increase the risk of infection. After use, the product can be disposed of with household waste.
