Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), or rather the eucalyptus oil used in this bath, is obtained from the fresh leaves or fresh branch tips of various eucalyptus species through steam distillation followed by rectification (separation). According to the European Pharmacopoeia, it is a medicinal product traditionally used – primarily in the form of vapors in a hot water bath – for the typical symptoms of the common cold.
