Shatavari, also known as wild asparagus (botanical name: Asparagus racemosus), is a twining, perennial plant that can grow up to 7 meters tall. Its fragrant white flowers develop into red berries. Wild asparagus has prominent rhizomes and leaves that thicken into spines at the base. In Ayurvedic medicine, the root and fresh juice are used to prepare a churna. Churna simply means powder in Sanskrit and is a mixture of ground herbs and/or minerals used in Ayurvedic medicine. Shatavari is also available in other forms - for example in Nimis Shatavari capsules, as a sweetened hot drink Shatavari hot Instant Infusion or as Ayurvedic massage oil Shatavari Gritham. Recommended intake Take 1 gram (approximately 1/3 teaspoon) three times a day with hot water between meals. The daily intake contains approximately 2.5–3 grams of herbal powder. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily intake. Dietary supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced and varied diet. Keep out of reach of small children.
