Guduchi, botanically known as Tinospora cordifolia, is a perennial climbing plant with heart-shaped leaves and small yellow flowers. Its stem develops numerous aerial roots that hang down like tentacles. In Ayurvedic medicine, the stem, root, sap, and leaves are used. Churna simply means powder in Sanskrit and is either a mixture of ground herbs and/or minerals, or—as in this case—a single ground herb. According to Ayurveda, this product correlates with the harmonious balance of the doshas by balancing the six tastes. It provides the astringent and bitter tastes.
