Amalaki, better known as Amla or by its botanical name Phyllanthus emblica, is a very beautiful, medium-sized deciduous tree. It has pinnate leaves and pale green flowers that develop into round, pale green to yellow fruits—also known as myrobalans. These fruits are used in Ayurvedic medicine. The finely and gently ground (below 40 °C) powder of the dried fruits comes from Cosmovedas Fair Trade and organic projects in India and Sri Lanka. You can also find amla powder in Nimis amla herbal capsules and as part of the Triphala blend in Triphala Churna. Amla fruit is also available in numerous other forms. For example, its the main ingredient in various Chyawanprash preparations, such as Daburs Chyawanprash. Its also a key ingredient in several teas from Nepali Gardens, such as their Three Ayurvedic Jewels tea. Recommended intake Take 1 gram (approximately 1/3 teaspoon) of Amalaki-Churna three times a day with hot water between meals. The daily intake contains approximately 2.5–3 grams of herbal powder.
