Propentofylline improves blood flow, particularly in the heart and skeletal muscles. It also improves blood flow and thus oxygen supply to the brain without increasing its glucose requirements. Propentofylline has a moderately positive chronotropic and a markedly positive inotropic effect. Propentofylline can increase activity levels and willingness to move, especially in older dogs. Application The dosage is 6-10 mg of propentofylline per kg of body weight daily, divided into two doses. The tablets can be placed directly into the dogs mouth or onto its tongue, or they can be mixed into a small portion of food. The tablets should be administered at least 30 minutes before feeding.
