BORT wrist support with aluminum splint (median splint) The BORT wrist support with aluminum splint is an elastic wrist brace designed for targeted stabilization and relief of the wrist. It is particularly suitable for chronic, post-traumatic, or post-operative irritation of the wrist, such as sprains (distortion), carpal osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), rheumatism, or tendinitis. An integrated aluminum splint runs along the inside of the hand and helps to keep the wrist in a comfortable position and limit pain-inducing movements. The product contains latex and is therefore not suitable for people with a latex allergy. Areas of application The wrist support is used to support and immobilize the wrist in cases of irritation, pain, and instability, for example, after injuries, surgeries, or in cases of degenerative changes. It can also provide relief for weak ligaments and tendons, as well as for sensitive or sensitive carpal tunnel syndrome. Its use should be appropriate and in consultation with the treating physician, as it is a medical device that requires a prescription. Application and handling Before application, the aluminum splint is bent into the desired shape to optimally adapt it to the individual hand position. Then, the hook-and-loop fasteners are opened and the bandage is placed on the affected wrist, with the aluminum splint resting on the palm side. First, the hook-and-loop fastener between the thumb and index finger is closed, followed by the remaining fasteners, until a secure but not constricting fit is achieved. Important warnings The wrist support must not be used in cases of peripheral arterial disease (PAD), lymphatic drainage disorders, unexplained soft tissue swelling, sensory or circulatory disturbances in the treated area, skin diseases in the treated area, or a known latex allergy. The medical device should be removed before radiological examinations and should not be worn too tightly during extended periods of rest (e.g., at night).
