BORT Stack splint – finger splint for immobilizing the end joint The BORT Stack splint is a medical finger splint for the targeted immobilization of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint. It is used particularly in cases of fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, and extensor tendon ruptures to reliably hold the affected joint in extension and thus support the healing process. The splint is intended for the treatment of a single patient and must not be reused. Application and handling The selection of the correct size and the initial instruction on its use are provided by trained professionals. To apply the splint, place the affected finger straight on a flat surface, such as a table, and slide the splint over the finger until the fingernail is visible in the semi-oval opening and the fingertip rests flush against the end of the splint. Ensure that the back end of the splint does not extend beyond the middle finger joint (PIP joint). For fixation, a skin-friendly, self-adhesive fixation tape (not included) can be wrapped circularly around the back end of the splint. To remove the splint, detach the fixation tape and carefully pull the splint off the finger. Important information and warnings The splint must not be worn on open wounds and should not be used if you have a known allergy to any of the materials used. Its use is contraindicated in cases of unexplained soft tissue swelling, sensory or circulatory disturbances, or skin diseases in the treated area. If numbness occurs during use, remove the splint if necessary. The medical device must always be removed before radiological examinations. If symptoms persist or you have any concerns, consult your doctor or pharmacist. The simultaneous use of other products on the affected finger should only be done after consulting your doctor. Care and lifespan The BORT Stack splint should be hand-washed. It must not be dry-cleaned, bleached, tumble-dried, or ironed; fabric softener should not be used. The lifespan of the medical device is determined by natural wear and tear under proper use. At the end of its service life, the splint should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
