BORT Stack splint – finger splint for immobilizing the end joint The BORT Stack splint is a medical finger splint for the targeted immobilization of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint. It is used particularly in cases of fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, or extensor tendon ruptures, and supports the affected structure in healing at rest. Selection of the correct size and initial instruction are provided by trained professionals. Application and handling Place the affected finger straight on a flat surface, such as a table. Slide the splint over the finger until the fingernail is visible in the semi-oval opening and the fingertip rests flush against the end of the splint. Ensure that the back end of the splint does not extend beyond the middle finger joint (PIP joint). For fixation, a skin-friendly, self-adhesive fixation tape (not included) can be wrapped circularly around the back end of the splint. If the splint is too long, it may only be adjusted by trained professionals using a suitable milling cutter at low speed. To remove it, remove the fixing material and carefully pull the splint off your finger. Important warnings The splint must not be used in cases of unexplained soft tissue swelling, sensory or circulatory disturbances in the treated area, or skin diseases on the affected finger. Do not wear the medical device on open wounds or if you have a known intolerance to any of the materials used. If numbness occurs, the splint should be removed and a healthcare professional or your doctor contacted. The splint must be removed before radiological examinations. The splint is intended for use by a single patient only and must not be reused. If symptoms persist or worsen, please consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Cleaning and care The BORT Stack splint can be hand-washed at 30°C. Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or dry clean. Do not tumble dry or iron. The products lifespan is determined by natural wear and tear under normal use.
