BORT Stack splint – finger splint for secure immobilization The BORT Stack splint is a medical finger splint for the targeted immobilization of the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint. It is used for stabilization after fractures, dislocations, ligament injuries, or extensor tendon ruptures, thus supporting the healing process. The splint encloses the fingertip, holds the affected joint in extension, and protects against further stress in everyday life. Application and handling The correct size will be selected by a medical professional, and the application will be explained. To apply the splint, place the affected finger straight on a flat surface and slide the splint over the finger so that the fingernail is visible in the semi-oval opening. The fingertip should be flush with the end of the splint, and the back end must not extend beyond the nearest finger joint (PIP joint). For fixation, a skin-friendly, self-adhesive fixation tape (not included) can be wrapped circularly around the back end of the splint. To remove, release the fastener and carefully pull the splint off the finger. Important information and warnings The splint must not be used in cases of unexplained soft tissue swelling, sensory or circulatory disturbances in the affected area, or skin diseases at the treatment site. Do not wear the splint on open wounds or if you have a known intolerance to any of the materials used. The medical device must be removed before radiological examinations. If numbness occurs, the splint should be removed; if symptoms persist, consult your doctor, pharmacist, or the healthcare professional providing care. This device is intended for the use of a single patient and must not be reused or given to other people. Care and cleaning The BORT Stack splint should be hand-washed. It must not be dry-cleaned, bleached, tumble-dried, or ironed. To preserve the material and fit, do not use fabric softener. The lifespan of this medical device is determined by natural wear and tear under proper use.
