Blemil ® plus Elemental is food for special medical purposes in powder form for solution. The preparation is suitable for use as the sole source of food for infants up to 6 months of age and as a food supplement for infants over 6 months of age and children. When is Blemil ® plus Elemental administered? Blemil ® plus Elemental is food for special medical purposes for diet management: in infants from birth and children with severe allergy to cows milk proteins; in soy protein allergy; in children with intolerance to different types of food, for whom the use of hydrolysates with a significant degree of hydrolysis in food management was not effective; when it is indicated to use a common elemental mixture. The product is used under medical supervision. Blemil ® plus Elemental – properties Blemil ® plus Elemental is a hypoallergenic elemental diet based on free amino acids for infants and children. It contains all the nutrients that a baby with a cows milk protein allergy needs. The formula of the preparation is 100% free amino acids of biosynthetic origin. It does not contain peptides, gluten, cows milk proteins or vegetable proteins (eg soy). The carbohydrates contained in the composition are maltodextrin (74%) and corn starch (26%). This composition gives the mixture a pleasant, delicate taste, which is well accepted by babies. The composition does not contain mono- and di-saccharides. The lack of glucose, fructose, lactose or sucrose not only increases the tolerance and absorption of the preparation, but also supports proper eating habits. Blemil ® plus Elemental is a suitable profile of fatty acids of vegetable origin, supplemented with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and medium chain fatty acids (MCT). The proportion of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in the product is similar to that of breast milk. DHA acid in the expected amount of 0.46% strengthens the bodys immunity and limits inflammatory processes and affects the proper maturation of the nervous system and visual functions. Furthermore, the calcium/phosphorus ratio is 1.6 and is close to the value found in breast milk. It has been adapted to meet the proper growth and maturation needs of a baby allergic to cows milk proteins. Blemil ® plus Elemental is very easy to prepare. The ready-to-drink mixture is prepared similarly to traditional milk powder. The preparation is administered orally or through an enteral tube.
