They provide a plasma-equivalent measurement result within seconds, thus supporting daily self-monitoring of blood glucose. The test strips utilize an enzymatic measurement principle with glucose oxidase, which generates a precise electrochemical signal. The systems are not suitable for diagnosing diabetes and are not suitable for newborns (infants under 4 weeks of age). Application and testing Use BGStar test strips only with a BGStar or MyStar meter and carefully read the respective instruction manual before first use. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before taking a blood sample from your fingertip. Insert a new test strip into the meter and, when the blood drop symbol is displayed, apply a small drop of fresh capillary blood to the tip of the test strip. After a few seconds, the blood glucose value, along with the time and date, will appear on the display and be stored in the meter. Dispose of the used test strip safely and wash your hands again. To check the functionality of the meter and test strips, you can use BGStar control solution according to the manufacturers instructions. Storage and handling Store the BGStar test strips in their original container in a cool, dry place between 8°C and 30°C, and protect them from direct sunlight and heat. Use the test strips only within the operating temperature range of 10°C to 40°C. Open the container only briefly to remove a test strip and then close it tightly immediately. Remove test strips only with clean, dry hands; do not bend or cut them, and do not use them after the expiration date or 180 days after first opening the container. Important warnings The BGStar and MyStar blood glucose monitoring systems are not suitable for diagnosing diabetes, for measuring blood glucose in newborns, or for determining blood glucose levels from arterial or venous blood. Use the meter and lancing device solely for your personal use and do not share them with others, as all components can be potentially infectious. Always keep test strips and the vial out of the reach of children, as swallowing them poses a choking hazard and the desiccant may be harmful. Results below 70 mg/dL (3.9 mmol/L) may indicate hypoglycemia, and values above 240 mg/dL (13.3 mmol/L) may indicate hyperglycemia; in such cases, repeat the test and follow your healthcare providers treatment plan or contact your doctor immediately. Do not use damaged or expired test strips, as this may lead to inaccurate results.
