BGStar® Blood Glucose Test Strips - For reliable blood glucose measurement Designed for use with BGStar® and MyStar® metering systems, BGStar® blood glucose test strips enable precise quantitative measurement of blood glucose levels. They detect the glucose content in fresh capillary whole blood samples using an enzyme called glucose oxidase (GOx). Together with a chemical mediator, the test strips generate a signal that reflects the glucose concentration in the sample. To avoid potential interference, the meter corrects this signal, particularly for the hematocrit effect. Application of BGStar® blood glucose test strips Before starting a test, hands should be thoroughly washed and dried. A new lancet is inserted into the lancing device, and a fresh test strip is inserted into the meter. After taking a blood sample from the fingertip, the sample is brought to the tip of the test strip. The result, along with the date and time, is displayed on the meter, which switches off as soon as the test strip is removed. Important warnings Results below 20 mg/dL or above 600 mg/dL should be verified with another test as soon as possible. If high or low values occur repeatedly, a doctors instructions should be followed. To avoid inaccurate results, expired or damaged test strips must not be used. Results may be inaccurate in critically ill patients or those undergoing oxygen therapy.
