BGStar control solution with normal glucose concentration The BGStar control solution with normal glucose concentration is used to check the accuracy of your BGStar, iBGStar, or MyStar Extra blood glucose monitoring system when used with BGStar test strips. It contains a defined amount of glucose, allowing you to verify that the meter and test strips are working together correctly. The application is the same as for a standard blood glucose test, except that the control solution is used instead of a blood sample. The measured values must be within the target range indicated on the container of your BGStar test strips. Application and testing Perform a control solution test, especially when first using a new meter, if you get suspicious readings, after the meter has been dropped or damaged, or if recommended by your healthcare professional. Before testing, ensure that the meter, test strip, and control solution are at a temperature between 10°C and 40°C. Shake the vial well, discard the first drop, and clean the dosing tip with a clean cloth or paper towel. Then, place a second drop on a clean surface and hold the tip of the test strip against this drop, as described in your meters instruction manual. Important information regarding the measurement results The results of a control solution test do not reflect your personal blood glucose level. The range indicated on the test strip vial is solely the target range for the control solution and does not represent a target range for your blood glucose levels. Test results should be within this target range approximately 95% of the time at room temperature. If a result is outside this range, repeat the test and check for possible causes such as expired or damaged test strips, expired or diluted control solution, errors in test procedure, or an outside temperature range. Warnings and precautions BGStar Control Solution is an in vitro diagnostic medical device and is for use only outside the body to check the meter. Use only BGStar Control Solution with your BGStar, iBGStar, or MyStar Extra blood glucose monitoring system and observe the expiration date on the vial. Once opened, the solution is usable for 90 days; record this date in the space provided and discard any unused solution after this period. Do not swallow or inhale the control solution, and do not dilute it with water or any other liquid.
