Potassium has a high concentration because, together with sodium, it plays an essential role in maintaining osmolarity. The combination of sodium acetate and sodium citrate acts as a buffer. It regulates and stabilizes the solution at a pH of approximately 7 and an osmolarity of approximately 305 mosm, values ​​similar to those of tears, ensuring good tolerance over time towards the cornea and the tear film, even if these elements are altered.
