If the test shows an elevated level, this usually indicates hypothyroidism, which should be checked by a doctor. What is the function of the thyroid gland in the body? The thyroid gland is an essential organ for the body, as it is responsible for the production of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. These hormones determine and regulate the metabolic state in the organism. They influence bodily functions such as energy consumption, body temperature regulation, and the activity of nerves, muscles, heart, circulatory system, stomach, and intestines, and make a significant contribution to mental well-being and sexuality. Particularly in children, the thyroid gland enables healthy development by influencing physical and mental growth. What are the symptoms of hypothyroidism? Hypothyroidism can cause symptoms such as fatigue, lack of energy, weight gain, sensitivity to cold, difficulty concentrating, as well as dry skin and brittle hair. What is TSH? TSH is a pituitary hormone that stimulates the thyroid gland to produce the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). T4 is the prohormone of T3. T4 is then converted to T3 to stimulate the metabolism of all tissues in the body and to regulate the endocrine function of the thyroid gland. Our rapid test provides results indicating the TSH level in the body. If this level deviates from the normal value of 5 µIU/mL, it is advisable to consult a doctor and undergo more comprehensive testing. A high TSH level in the blood indicates hypothyroidism, while a lower level suggests hyperthyroidism. The causes of both conditions can be very diverse, which is why a thorough examination of the thyroid gland is recommended. How accurate is the TSH rapid test? A clinical validation was performed, comparing the results obtained with the TSH rapid test. The results showed an overall accuracy of 98.2%. Instructions for use: Wash your hands with soap and rinse them with clear, warm water. Allow the foil packaging containing the test to reach room temperature before opening it. Open the foil packaging and remove the cassette. Carefully peel off the loosened cap of the lancet and dispose of it. Clean the fingertip of the middle or ring finger, the injection site, with the disinfectant wipe included in the package. Press the end of the lancet from which you removed the cap against your fingertip (the side of the ring finger is recommended). The tip will retract automatically and safely after use. Hold your hand downwards and massage the punctured end to obtain a drop of blood. Touch the drop of blood with the pipette without squeezing the pipette. The blood will travel through the pipette to the line indicated on the pipette due to capillary action. If the blood does not reach the indicated line, you can massage your finger again to obtain more blood. Avoid air bubbles. Pour the collected blood into the sample well (S) of the cassette by squeezing the pipette. If necessary, cover the puncture site with a plaster. Wait until the blood has completely dispersed in the well. Unscrew the cap of the buffer bottle, add 2 drops of buffer solution to the buffer well (B) of the cassette, and start a timer. Wait until the line(s) appear. Read the result after 10 minutes. Compare the intensity of the T-line with the Vitamin D Color Chart included in the kit to determine the vitamin D level in your blood. The result should not be interpreted after 20 minutes. Notes: Please read all information in the package leaflet before performing the test. Store in the sealed foil pouch at room temperature or refrigerated (2-30°C). The test is stable until the expiry date printed on the sealed foil pouch. The test must be kept in the sealed foil pouch until use. DO NOT FREEZE. Do not use after the expiry date. This test does not replace a medical diagnosis.
